Did The Illegal Criminalization of Marijuana Lead To The Downfall of America?

Wake Up and Smell the Kind Bud!
A recent job interview ended in an unusual fashion, although I had no intention of working for this company, it ended with a discussion on the illegal criminalization of marijuana and whether or not it lead to the downfall of America.
The interviewer gave me a tour of their facilities which only reenforced my decision, not to take the job, I tried to keep an open mind and be polite. He asked me all the normal questions and concluded the interview by asking me if I would be willing to consent to a drug test.
I told him I would, even though I didn't agree with the policy and this is what happened next!
He said "Oh Really and why is that?"
I told him, that although I agreed that drugs in the work place was not a good idea, what a person does on their own time is their business.
He asked me if I thought marijuana should be legalized, hmmm interesting way to continue the discussion!
I could have ended things there, but always willing to enlighten the sheeple, I said . . .
"I think the criminalization of marijuana was illegal in the first place and in essence has lead to the downfall of America."
The look on his face was priceless and well worth enduring the insipid interview process!
He said "Oh really?" He seemed to really like that word! Evidently it can be used when one has nothing clever to say . . . and may lead to another hub entirely!
"Yes, really!" I responded giving him the chance to end things right then and there, but he took the bait, as I knew he would. (how smug of me)
He responded by saying he wasn't aware that making drugs illegal was a criminal act!
So I endeavored to enlighten him on the subject, since most people simple are unaware of the real reasons marijuana was made illegal. Hell, most people think that it wasn't criminalized until the late sixties when it became popular. (oh contrare!, I think that's French)
I told him that the conspiracy to make Hemp illegal began in the early thirties, by such rich and powerful men as the Dupont's, William Randolph Hearst, John D. Rockefeller, J.P. Morgan and Andrew Carnegie and asked him if he had heard of any of these men?
He said that he had and added "In the thirties? Are you sure?" At this point we had sat back down and I got comfortable as I now began the process of reeling in the sad sucker!
I said "Oh yes, quite sure, feel free to look it up. Marijuana or Hemp as it was referred to then was made illegal in 1937 due to it's wide variety of uses."
"What do you mean wide variety of uses, it's a drug! It is used to get stoned with, that is the only use I know of!" he said, getting a little emotional.
I chuckled setting the hook a little deeper and said " Hemp has been used for thousands of years in the production of rope, sails for ships and clothing, not to mention the seeds are very high in protein which can be eaten and the plant can be used for natural medicinal purposes."
"Yeah, but how does that relate to this so-called conspiracy!"
Hmmm, evidently critical thinking wasn't his strong suit, so being the intellectual snob that I am, I reminded myself to talk slowly as I was enjoying this.
" Well", drawing the word out "Andrew Carnegie owned the first large Steel company in the US, and because he also owned a fleet of steamships and railroad cars, he had what is commonly known as a monopoly, which of course is supposed to be illegal in this country."
"Yeah, so!" he interjected getting a little more emotional. At this point I almost felt sorry for him, almost as I was having too much fun to stop now.
"The Rockefellers had monopolized the oil industry here in America, by basically using horizontal integration to run his competition out of business." Uh oh, I quickly realized I had used some words that were more than two syllables and had lost him, darn!
I reminded myself that there is a reason those Dummie books are so popular and to tone down the big words. Not wanting to spoil the fun, I quickly continued with my history lesson . . .
"The Hearst Empire was mostly built on the production of paper manufacturing, as William Randolph owned vast tracts of timberlands in the US and Mexico." Seeing the dull stare in his eyes, I continued to elucidate, "Before wood was used for the production of paper, Hemp was the preferred plant of choice as it was much sturdier and lasted longer and didn't take twenty years to grow like a tree did." I had gotten him back, whew that was close.
"Dupont, you know paint and varnishes, they used oil products to create their chemicals?"
" Yes? "
" Well his main competitor at the time Sherman Williams used Hemp seeds to produce their paint and varnishes. " Recognition returned, so I hurried on " Well Dupont also had patented the processes for using oil to create plastics, cellophane, methanol, ect. . . . I could see that he was making the connections and with it came confidence.
"Yeah that's all well and good but you mentioned J.P. Morgan how did he . . .
and I finished his thought for him " In 1901 Carnegie sold his monopoly to a group of investors lead by J.P. Morgan for 500 million dollars (a lot of money back then and now), who has often been linked to the Rockefellers and Rotheschild's banking empire."
" So do you see how the plant Hemp could have effected all these rich men's strangle hold on industry here in America at the turn of the last century? "
" Well yes, but . . . how did . . . " and he trailed off allowing me to do his thinking for him. I thought WOW, television and conditioning worked really well as he was unable to complete the thought on his own!
All these rich folks realizing that Hemp could derail (oops, there I go again) their monopolies set about using Hearst's newspapers to spread the disinformation or 'Reefer Madness' (a movie made in the 30's) to the public. Since most of America was poorly educated back then, they simple believed everything that was printed as the gospel truth. Not so different today is it? The sarcasm escaped his clever wit or he simple ignored it!
Anyway I went on " They used their political connections to get a bill passed into legislation through the Ways and Means Committee, which effectively bypassed any debate on the matter in Congress.
I summed it all up for him by connecting the dots, before the discovery of oil and it's subsequent by products and before the invention of among other things the Cotton Gin and the process that allowed wood to be turned into paper, the plant Hemp was used.
" Yeeaah, but I don't get how that relates to the steel industry!" he said waving my explanation off with a smile on his face.
" Ahh, I was hoping you would ask me that. When Henry Ford began producing his famous Model-T's in the early 1900's he built the car to run on hemp gasoline which burned more cleanly and got better fuel efficiency than gasoline. He also constructed the car itself from a fiber type process from Hemp that allowed him to mold into any shape he wanted. This process created a structure that was TEN times more impact resistant (stronger) than steel. One of the by products of this process was an oil that did not break down when heated which he used as a lubricant for all the moving parts! "
" So you see, Henry Ford was not only going to be able to mass produce his cars using a renewable energy source, Hemp only takes about five months to grow to maturity, but he was going to be able to provide the fuel, oil and manufacture of these cars themselves from one source that didn't pollute the environment, while providing jobs for millions of people, not too mention all the farmers that would be able to sell to him, as Hemp grows in every state in the US including Alaska! "
He was stunned as the wheels began to turn slowly in his brain. He mumbled something to the effect of " I had no idea, how did this not get into the history books . . . "
I continued to fire for effect with " Carnegie invested his millions if not billions into universities and education, libraries, hospitals and trailed off as I realized he was too stunned to absorb any new information. "
I fired one remaining salvo to get his attention " Did you know? " Knowing full well he didn't have a clue " That it was actually illegal in America in the late 1700's NOT to grow hemp as it had so many uses, including medicinal purposes! "
" What . . ." he stammered!
" Yup, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin all grew hemp, until the Cotton Gin was invented, 80% of all textiles were made from Hemp."
I continued to regale him with it's uses as we got up, " Betsy Ross's Flag, Bibles, The Declaration of Independence, The US Constitution, all the major works of art from the Renaissance were painted or printed on Hemp canvass or paper. "
"You could even pay your taxes in Hemp, try doing that now! " We both laughed and shook hands.
"WOW", he said " I had no idea!" and he began walking me out the front door completely forgetting about why I was there.
As I got ready to leave he suddenly remembered my purpose for being there and rather sheepishly (excuse the pun) asked if I was interested in the position.
I politely turned down the offer and the look of gratitude that spread across his face, is still ingrained in my memory. Over all a very good interview as I believe we were both left enlightened.
He got a brief history lesson on the real reasons Marijuana was made illegal . . .
Because Billionaires have one thing in common they want to remain Billionaires and don't care who they screw to do it!
And me you ask, Well I have the proof beyond a shadow of a doubt that the conditioning of the Sheeple is working . . . ah you gotta love America!

Hemp Seeds are 'High' in Protein
Now For the Point of the Article
Now granted I took a little artistic license with above mentioned interview, however it basically happened in that manner. The real point of this article is to allow others to ponder the real reasons Hemp was promoted as a dangerous drug. When in doubt follow the money, at least it works on this planet.
Initially my thinking was that those that import the drug make billions of dollars on a tax free income and would be loath to give that up. Hell, if you were able to import it by the ton, you could easily spend millions on bribes to keep it illegal.
Upon further research and when I learned that it had been made illegal in the 30's, I realized that there was obviously more to the story. That is when I began researching the topic in earnest and then came across some mind boggling claims, that unfortunately made perfect sense. Heck, back in the day when I smoked the stuff, I had no idea it had so many uses!
I find it somewhat ironic that after smoking pot for 27 years almost everyday, that after getting sober almost seven years ago I now would be writing an article about how its many uses, besides the most obvious one, are actually beneficial to mankind.
That the actual real reasons for it's criminalization have nothing to do with the fact that when smoked gives one a euphoric sensation and has an actual calming effect.
Was I in for a shock, as it turns out it was the wonder plant that surpassed all other plants in terms of uses, even down to providing a very high protein food source. What is even more amazing is that it has physical characterizations unlike any other plant on the Planet and some researchers have even gone so far as suggesting that it is an Alien life form.
What I have learned is that the differences from other plants is it's unmistakeable female/male orientation. Meaning that it has two distinct sexes that are easily determined by the naked eye! All that being said I would like to explain the how and why of it's criminalization.
The why as mentioned above, is because according the governments own sources it is a plant that has a wide variety of uses, takes little time to grow (five months), and can be grown in any climate hot or cold. Because of this and it's ability to be manufactured into a fuel source can replace fossil fuels (gasoline), plastics (rope), textiles (for clothes), steel (for construction), medicine (pharmaceuticals), paper (trees) and the list goes on and on.
According to a USDA Bulletin #404 it produces 4 times more pulp than trees while producing 7 time less pollution when manufactured. It produces a higher quality fiber than wood and takes one twentieth the time to grow, while not causing whole landscapes to erode or deplete the air of valuable oxygen as deforestation does.
According to the AMA, before 1937 when it was made illegal, it has two essential fatty acids that cleanse your body of cholesterol. The seeds of the plant are high in protein and could serve to rid the planet of much of the starvation that it currently endures. (100,000 people a day starve to death)
It is currently now prescribed to chemo patients because it causes it's users to get the munchies and chemotherapy makes eating a nauseating process, hmmm!
As to the how it was made illegal was through a time honored process known today as disinformation and media hype, sound familiar?
The Powers That Be (filthy rich) realizing that Hemp could bust up their monopolies, created a campaign to misinform the public and label Hemp as Marijuana, before the 1930's no one used the term marijuana outside Mexico. The American Medical Association (AMA) didn't even realize that Marijuana and Hemp were one in the same, until it was too late.
Those that did testify against its criminalization, even admitted before the Ways and Means Committee that they had no idea that Hemp had been labeled as Marijuana, so clever was the deceit. The misdirection and outright lies served the elites purpose well and a bill was passed allowing for the criminalization of Hemp without any debate in Congress.
As for my own personal experience with the drug, I can say now after being sober for seven years, that I never considered the drug addicting. I have been addicted to alcohol, crack cocaine and cigarettes and of the three have eliminated two, but cigarettes is an addiction I have been unable to break.
Although I smoked marijuana almost everyday for 27 years I could take it or leave it as it had no physical or mental cravings that I was aware of. It actually served to help in my creative processes, did not effect my coordination in anyway and played many sports high with no adverse affects. I never got a hangover or missed work due to smoking pot and have never experienced what others call paranoia.
However it is not for everyone and if it has any adverse or negative effects on any one else, then I suggest a simple solution . . . . don't smoke it!
I have heard it is considered the gateway drug and to this assertion I would ask . . . How many people have done completely insane things on alcohol (legal) or cocaine that they would never even consider while sober or smoking pot?
A pot smoker is less likely to get off the couch to find the remote than he is to beat his wife or get behind the wheel while intoxicated.
There is a drugstore in every town in America, but the only drugs you can buy there are the ones made for you by the very people that have made the natural ones illegal.
So while the War On Drugs continues with no end in sight, did allowing this piece of legislation to pass with no debate, actually lead to the down fall of America?
Consider for a moment what it has caused to happen;
• Pollution on a world wide scale, not just in America.
• Becoming dependent on a finite fuel source from mostly foreign imports.
• Inflation due to an inability to become self sufficient.
• Crime in our cities due to the criminalization of a natural resource.
• Farmers inability to raise a cash crop.
• The rise in health care mostly due to obesity and inflated drug prices.
• Deforestation from the need for trees in the manufacture of paper products.
• Millions of jobs lost due to the criminalization of one plant.
• Allowing the monopolies to continue to make policy in America.
• Cheaper more cost efficient products that actually biodegrade, cutting down on garbage.
• The rise in prices of pharmaceuticals.
Ask yourself, does anyone really know what is in those drugs? I know I don't, how many of your friends or family members takes some sort of pharmaceutical on a daily basis.
The bottom line is they want you to spend money on drugs, but just the ones they make and can control.
Perhaps being sober has allowed me the clarity of mind to write this article and I did so to keep my readers pondering and exploring new ideas and concepts to old problems!
So in conclusion it is hard to say whether the Illegal Criminalization of Marijuana Lead to the Downfall of America, but it certainly has taken many jobs away from the working class.

Hiya somethgblue - great Hub. I really liked the way you included the narrative of the job interview.
I had no inkling of the lengths gone to in criminalizing hemp. I wouldn't go so far as to say it brought about America's downfall, but it certainly contributed to the obliteration of small family-owned farms. My grandfather grew hemp back in the day, as did most of his neighbors, and they never quite recovered financially after being forced to stop.
Legalization will have to wait until a more accurate testing medium is developed; one that will determine the time frame of consumption, much like a breathalyzer. One shouldn't go to work stoned any more than one should go to work sloshed or under the influence of prescription meds.
It amazes me that such prejudice still exists against marijuana and those who use it. By the logic (using the term loosely, there) of these small-minded folks, anything that alters brain function should be illegal. So, let's see, that would include anti-depressants and anti-anxiety drugs, alcohol, even chocolate, which like THC, causes the brain to produce dopamine. Just try to take away their Xanax and their appletinis and see how loud they'd howl.
Voted up, useful, funny, interesting and downright awesome.
Well done and undeniably true. Unfortunately, the chances of marijuana or its lower octane cousin hemp being legalized is still unlikely.
The USA has the highest percentage of citizens incarcerated of any country in the world, and increasingly the nation's prisons are being operated by private entities for profit.
We have become a country that puts profits above people. And so many of the "99%" are duped by the manipulations of the wealthy that the truth is drowned out while we fight amongst ourselves.
Although our downfall can't be fully attributed to the criminalization of marijuana, I agree it has played a major role.
CP
Somethgblue-
I find it ironic that you attempt such professionalism throughout the course of this Hub yet you are so very quick to stoop to immature heights when referencing my age. I personally believe that America's "plunge" can very much be attributed to people such as yourself, who graduate from college with a degree that serves essentially zero purpose while they run up their student loans. Ideally, you should go back to college and really learn about this country, and in the process you should remove your own "blinders" and stop limiting yourself to seeing only what you want to see.
Oh, and by the way- it's "au contraire."
Jenn
Thanks for the article, I found it interesting. I have had similar opportunities to educate the unwashed on the backdoor story of the prohibition of cannabis.
Did you and your readers know that before prohibition there were over 1400 "tea houses" in New York City alone? Tea Houses back in those days (1900-1937) were places one could go and be served non-alcoholic beverages along with a lump of hash (extract of cannabis) and listen to Jazz music. Of course these tea houses were all the rage during the equally criminal alcohol prohibition daze.
Now you're really starting to piss me off! I HAVE to get back to work, but this hub was so brilliant I have to stick my nose in and comment. A friend of mine who hates "stoners" asked me this question the other day:
"When do you think the downfall of Western civilisation began?"
"I don't know. When?"
"It was when hemp was made illegal."
He then filled me in on the British side of the story, which is similar to what occurred in America.
I had already come to this conclusion while doing research on THC as a cancer cure. Basically, a study that was meant to show how THC was harmful showed evidence of shrinking tumours in mice. Because of this, it was shut down. That led to further research which basically taught me what you have outlined above.
We have been conned for so long. Good on you for a great hub!
I wish I had time! Maybe over Xmas. When marijuana was outlawed, the AMA objected, saying it was too valuable because of its medicinal benefits. The pharmaceutical companies are trying to synthesise THC so they can own it, but so far haven't been successful in their efforts to make a THC without the high. It's all so stupid it would be funny if it wasn't so bloody criminal.
Yes and I've also read about how the warm hearted and charitable folks at Monsanto have teamed up with USAID to supply seeds to countries like Haiti and Nepal. I was recently very relieved to discover that my Cambodian rice growing extended family does not use GM seed, preferring to do it the old fashioned way. I just hope the leaning tower of greed topples before they can completely destroy everything that's beautiful and natural about this world.
jjackson wrote: "you should go back to college and really learn about this country." My God, wake up! I've spent most of my life unlearning what I was taught in college. I was lucky enough to travel at an early age and learn the other side of the story. Specifically it was when I was in Iran in 1971 and was told by college educated Iranians that the Shah of Iran was a very different person than I had read about in my university classes. I got an A+ in a term paper I wrote extolling his virtues. When he was finally ejected from power, I was not in the least bit surprised. Now I suppose you're being taught that there is some legitimacy to the War on Terror. An education in America is largely a brainwashing exercise. It's as simple as that.
Great article. Thank you so much for writing this. I have to remain anonymous because of my job, but I will say this. I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease around 11 years ago. I have had a total of 3 flare ups, which are absolutely terrible. I had to take steroids, which do more harm than good to your body. Then I read online that marijuana helps with chronic inflamation and has been proven to significantly improve the lives of crohn's patients. I tried it. I smoked pretty much daily for a couple of months, then stopped. I have not had a shadow of a symptom for the last 7 years. It really is a shame that people chose to remain ignorant about this drug.
JJ, regardless of your age, you need to wake up. If you can't see the power grab here, your just plain stupid!!!
Somethingblue...great read. Your're right, I kinda lost my manners. I'm just so passionate about this subject & there is so much ignorance & misinformation surrounding this subject. It's highly personal to me, thanks for sharing this info with us.
As you might guess, marijuana and other drugs are pretty freely available here in Cambodia and elsewhere in SE Asia. When I first arrived, I reverted briefly to my early hippy days and gave it a try. It was fun, but I've had no interest in it since. I know of one guy who came here strung out and quit drugs altogether. Of course, there are others, and too many of them, who get on yama (a methamphetamine, I think) and get crazy or die, but that's another story. The point is that its illegality just drives the price up, puts the distribution network in the hands of the few and the powerful and does nothing to curb use. Equating marijuana with crime and dementia goes back to a propaganda effort in I think it was the 30s. Reefer Madness is an example. Before that, it was primarily a medicinal herb. Then of course there were all of the other wonderful uses for hemp products. Did you mention in your article that Henry Ford made the Model T to run on a hemp derived fuel? Sorry, don't have time to reread and as you know, I'm a fellow nutard with a lousy memory.
Right on !!!
it was not the illegal criminalization of cannabis it was the mind set of the 1% and it still is.
"Yeah, I mentioned it where do you think you got the information, the new testament?"
Almost, the Hemp Bible, Jack Herer's "The Emperor Wears No Clothes".
The number one source on Hemp and the cospiracy against marijuana.
Jack started his research in the 70's and has since 1985 given out 11th editions and sold over 600 000 copies, since he lived for the cause and wanted this information to come out he also published it on the Internet, free for all to read.
Its here:

Jack was a great guy who sadly passed away last year, but his work still lives on and we are many fighting to Free the Seed!

yo thanks for spreading some of the best knowledge on marijuana i smoke marijuana everyday and i completley agree with you man. THANK YOU
It is possible check out New Approach Washington.
somethgblue .... from a green mermaid want to thank you for publishing this hub! sow it everywhere!! :)
I can't believe I even bothered reading this article, which is basically a compilation of your far-fetched, fantastical beliefs and delusions.
Nutards like you are the reason why I'm on meds!
While I'm at it, I should go ahead and say,and get a life stop 'agitating' your fellow citizens, before you do any further damage.
ROFL! May be you should open up a pharmacy as a side business :D Your readers will be your largest clientele and primary source of revenue.
Great Hub! Have known about this conspiracy.. or should i say the actual facts for some time. I'm not into drugs, don;t even drink, but the facts about hemp can't be argued. Too many people are blind, believe everything they here without looking for the facts.
The thing with hemp as with many other lies we are told is that the facts are right there in plain sight. Keep telling the truth!
I just wrote an article on one of my blogs about my previous research into medical marijuana - specifically as a proven cancer and Alzheimer's treatment. I decided to publish it there rather than here since I get a lot more traffic to my blog than I get here. I gave you a plug and stole your picture: http://www.cookbookofconsciousness.com/2011/12/an-
I guess writing the truth about hemp doesn't go down with some readers. I've already had one person unsubscribe from my newsletter and the article was only published a couple of hours ago. Or maybe it was the reference to the nutard at the top of the page that turned them off.
Feel free to plagiarise and steal my links as much as you like! That 1974 study is completely lost now, but the Spanish one they did in 2000 is still online, so include a link to that PDF so it can't mysteriously disappear. The Scripps news release about Alzheimers and THC is also a good reference. People can argue with nutards like you and me, but when it's a study conducted by a prestigious institution, they have to listen unless they're completely brain dead.
Hey somethgblue, I found you via the comment you left at writeronline's hub about negative comments (I like how you handle yours, btw (by the way)). I'm glad I did! Not only was this hub an enjoyable read (loved how you couched your facts in that hilarious interview), it was informative as well. I've known a bit about the history of how marijuana came to be illegal from, of all places, the History Channel, and I watched Reefer Madness a few years ago just to see what all the hype was about. A really silly movie by today's standards, but clearly had some effect back in the 30s.
What I find mind-boggling is that legalizing marijuana would provide a huge influx of tax money into financially-strapped government coffers, yet the powers that be refused to do it. But I believe legalization is inevitable. In fact, one of those History Channel shows mentioned that Phillip Morris has bought huge tracks of land in Northern California (the golden triangle of marijuana farming) in anticipation of its legalization.
Thanks for sharing this information. The more people understand the truth about the amazing hemp plant and all of its uses, the sooner we'll see it brought back into production. Am I too optimistic?
Rated up and across the board.
First: I think you're a better writer than I. Your hubs are always lively and interesting while mine are just well-constructed. Secondly, I've been hearing that Phillip Morris story since the 70s and it depresses me. Just another corporate crop to exploit people with if it's legalised.
This may be a totally off-the-wall conspiracy theory, but could PM and other tobacco companies' plan to raise hemp have anything to do with the anti-smoking campaign? I know, cigarettes are bad for you, but so are a million other things. I was there when the tide turned from athletes and doctors advocating the benefits of cigarettes to the massive anti-smoking campaign and have always wondered about why it was so successful. As you have so eloquently pointed out many times before, people are not people - they're sheeple and their cherished "personal" beliefs and convictions are usually just those that have been force-fed to them. Just a thought.
First off, I had to shake my girly head at the two comments made by "valley girls" who still live at home, then of course I had to view their profile page, which in turn contradicts their ill sighted comments. Geez I mean it's cool to disagree but grow up chickies, you got a lot, I mean a lot of learning to do.
This was about the economy's downfall and why we are in the hole, and why the earth is basically dying on us. Maybe I believe sustainability, that we can earn our keep with minimal outside resources.
But I must remind myself I speak for the future of my child, not the future of my next "like um, i phone, or like why I think pimples are totally not a good thing, or like why I think...er" ...
Sorry somethgblue I just get really agitated with near sighted commentators who have a quick mind to judge yet not one fucking point to prove.
What a creative, insightful, fun read on history of the hemp. That was just brilliant how you were telling the purpose of the hub through a story, very cool.
There was a lot of things in history I did not know, and like a mature adult I admit it and thank the writer/author for enlightening me as well as his references to his findings, as all informational hubs should do, eh emmm....
I can see why this is a "viral" hub and hope it just keeps on going.
Oh that's right...I just sent you a recipe (famous recipe by a chef eh em me,):) I will send my address via that way, I will let you choose.
I try to be positive though when it comes to the female race I tend to be quite irate with ill educated minds, we have enough to try to defend our selves, and don't need any extra ammo you now?
That's right we women will rule the world:) or least what we can....
I do drink coffee, out of a cup I got from the dollar store so some kind of porcelain species yes.
Gift giving should always be spontaneous and at random so the better late than never is a strict rule I abide.
Oh man you are kidding me? Alright crap, I will send it again.
That is pretty funny, I always semi-joke if you put 1500 women on the front line with PMS the war would've of been over long ago. In fact we women would not even need weapons our nagging about why the hell we are fighting in the fist place would draw all back. Or they would turn the guns on themselves to stop hearing all the complaining. They would also probably sign a deal with the whole oil sham just to never have to deal with us again.
"A pot smoker is less likely to get off the couch to find the remote than he is to beat his wife or get behind the wheel while intoxicated" That was great!
NICE! You prompted me to consider writing about the same thing, until I read your hub.
I'm glad you touched on the subject so well. I do not personally condone it anymore, of course we have all had our days or, in my case, years of experimentation and I personally believe that it would solve alot of problems.
But if they legalize marajuana that then they would also have to consider legalizing everything else and that, of course, will NEVER happen. Who do you think is paying our politicians? They live on the pretense of upholding higher standards yet they accept political kickbacks from the people they are trying to save us from. What BS. [Sigh]
They say marajuana is the 'gateway drug', whatever. I was personally fine with what I was smoking. Like you said, I was too preoccupied trying to find the remote or my cigarettes and lighter to even consider the other stuff.
They, the government, just don't want to give up their personal stash. Think of all the confiscated drugs they aquire each year. Do you honestly believe they are burning it in fields with gas masks on? LOL. Ya, neither do I.
You are an awesome writer. And you will go far with all your life experience and sense of humor. You talk about things that most people won't and you are very intelligent. You make people think. Great hub! Thanks!
If those billionaire idiots would wake up they would find that with over 22,000 LEGAL uses they would want to legalize it. They could make billions more with every day products being made with a very renewable resource. This is the stupidity that astounds me!
Possibly, But what about biodegradable plastics, paper, textiles and so on. What this is all about is control by a few over many. Much like the fools in charge of our country they are short-sighted and greedy. Only thinking of themselves .
Thank you for steering me towards this Hub. Being a Californian, the question is asked of us each day: medical marijuana or not? A few weeks back, a local medical marijuana business gave away the last of its inventory to its patients, and these people were lined up around the block. Now you see these places, and now you don't. Bookmarked. Voted up and everything else.
THC without the high cannot be manufactured because THC is mostly responsible for the high in the 1st place. Although it causes paranoia in high strength this is counteracted by the cannibanoids responsible for the more physical 'buzz'.
Legalize it! As a smoker myself I am all for the legalization of marijuana, but I think the greatest benefit of the legalization would be the benefit it provides people who MEDICALLY need it. It breaks my heart that my 96 year old great-grandmother has to break the law because none of the glaucoma medication she is given works. When you have a 96 year old woman suffering because some plant is illegal, it can really shift your thinking. They are trying to prevent criminals by keeping it illegal but the ONLY reason crime ever became associated with marijuana was when it was criminalized and people went to jail for it. Would any of you against the legalization of marijuana really deny a 96 year old lady comfort? What possible harm could her relief cause?
This was an extremely well written article. I definitely hope for a day when we can be free to make our own decisions, but I am not holding my breath.
The problem is that if it was decriminalized/legalized crime rates would go down then policing wouldn't be needed as much and crime-related government income would go down.
I don't see that as a problem. We need teachers and educators, not policemen arresting people for smoking an herb.
LOL! Now that I think about it, it is obvious. The sarcasm got lost in translation :)
Okay, I'm sick of all this complaining about the CIA and billionaires. Without the CIA protecting them, billionaires would be helpless and their billions transferred into the hands of useless eaters who do nothing towards making the world a safer place for the Illuminati. Why not show a little compassion towards the super-rich and super-powerful for a change?
Haha maybe we should join the CIA?!
Interesting story, useful informations, thanks for this hub! I would like to add the following article I found recently http://www.rockefellerdrugwars.com/
Bob Marley told 60 minutes, that all governments are illegal. I will be publishing an article on hemp fuel and use some excerpts from this article and link to it.
Rasta's believe the real reason that marijuana was made illegal was because that its hard to brainwash someone who is high. Because the plant causes people to question and rationalize things.
Marijuana was introduced to Jamaica by England from India. It was the reason why slaves were brought from Africa to Jamaica. They noticed that the slaves that smoked the plant are more likely to walk of the job or influence other slaves, so they changed it to sugar canes.
The link is up know, I found the same product on amazon. I find Canadian products are more organic.
The Criminalization of Marijuana and the War on Drugs more broadly has certainly harmed the right to be secure in one's persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, the 4th Ammendment of the Constitution of the United States. The Founding Fathters of the United States would be appalled that citizens rights under the 4th Ammendment are being trampled upon by the "State" in the name of stopping the growth and use of a silly green plant that grows naturally all over the country. Too bad so many people still support the marijuana illegalization laws that have harmed our consitutional rights so badly.

By saying that "illegal criminalization" is responsible for the "downfall" of America, you are referring to a concept that does not exist. Criminalization is very much legal, and is ordained by the United States government upon deciding that the cons outweigh the pros of a potential health issue. It will be many, many years before marijuana will be legalized in this country and, quite frankly, I rue the day when it will become socially and morally acceptable for "stoners" to receive the same social treatment as the rest of us. Definitely voted down.
